Building Maintenance Coordinator

Able to come to Inspira and diagnose issues relatively quickly

Position summary

The Building Maintenance Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Inspira ensuring that our facility remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, and clients. This volunteer will oversee general building upkeep, coordinate repair efforts, and manage relationships with service contractors as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to assess facility needs and safety issues

  • Perform light repairs and preventative maintenance (e.g. replacing light bulbs, patching walls, unclogging drains)

  • Coordinate with licensed professionals for major repairs (e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing)

  • Maintain a maintenance log and schedule for inspections and upkeep tasks

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards

  • Order or source materials and tools as needed within budget limits

  • Collaborate with staff to support even set-up and space modifications

Qualifications

  • Experience in building maintenance, handyman services, or facilities coordination (professional or volunteer)

  • Comfortable using basic tools and performing minor repairs

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks safely

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Inspira

Preferred Skills (not required)

  • Background in trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC)

  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety protocols

  • Bilingual skills are a plus
